Doing business in Brazil is not complicated, except when it is.

I have had a lot of positive feedack on my post about 10 tips for joint ventures in Brazil

However, a few readers said that I gave the post a too fatalistic tone, as if doing business in Brazil were almost impossible.

About the same time, The Brazil business, a website focused on investments in Brazil, published an article called "Doing Business in Brazil is not complicated".

The article says that:

some people don't like us at all. We are about to destroy the market for people who have spent the last years charging thousands of dollars for giving people simple trivial answers to questions about business in Brazil.
We believe that everybody who is interested can very easily understand how to do business in Brazil.
(...) you will find large groups of Brazilian Sharks here. They are often found in some type of service or information firm, (...) Brazilian Sharks cannot give you any information before you pay, and any question you ask is answered with "everything is so complicated in Brazil".

I'm not sure they were talking about lawyers or about  fraudulent business brokers. And, by the way, I have nothing against them. It is a smart website.

Well, anyway, I think that the tone of TheBrazilbusiness' post has been too optimistic. Doing business in Brazil requires a bit more of preparation and lots of caveat emptor.

I'd like to listen from you, reader. What do you think? Is doing business in Brazil a complicated task or a rather easy one?
