THERE HAS BEEN IMPORTANT CHANGES. PLEASE READ: BRAZILIAN IMPERFECT ADOPTION OF CISG.
Earlier this year I wrote that Brazilian congress had approved CISG. Therefore, the only missing step for the definitive adoption of the convention by Brazil would be presidential sanction.
Well, the situation remains pretty much the same. I have been reading some articles in the internet saying that Brazil has already approved the convention, which surprised me.
I do not agree with this conclusion.
And one should not make assumptions too quickly. Presidential sanction in Brazil sometimes takes more than 20 years to be achieved. NY Convention on international arbitration took 50 years to be completely approved in Brazil, for instance.
Let's hope CISG set a record the other way around.
